Welcome to the Coolrox Almandine Garnet page.
These huge almandine garnet crystals are from the Phu Tho Province, northern Vietnam, near a ruby, sapphire and spinel mining district. Mining for these crystals began accidentally in September 1999 when local people found them searching for aquamarine and tourmaline.
I have classified the 12-sided crystals (dodecahedrons) into 3 grades. (A) Grade has intact edges and complete faces. (B) Grade has an eroded face or edge, sometimes both. (C) Grade, while still 12 sided, has a few eroded edges, and/or faces. The length listed for each it the crystals maximum dimension (inches across). Each thumbnail photo below links to a larger picture. If you are interested in purchasing one of these fine crystals, please email me, or phone me at the number above.
